I was touched by the story of Talia Castellano, a young girl who spent more than six years of her life battling two different kinds of cancer. You may have seen her on Ellen. She adored makeup and hosted her own beauty blog and beauty videos, and she was made an honorary Cover Girl. Talia lost her battle with cancer earlier this week, at the age of 13. (You can read more about her on her Facebook page, where she had more than a half million followers.)
Her name was almost as beautiful as she was. Talia is a shortened version of Natalia, and the name means "gentle dew from heaven." It's currently in the top 400 baby names in the U.S. In addition to Talia Castellano, it's also the name of Talia Shire, the actress who played Rocky's beloved Adrian, and Michael's sister Connie in The Godfather saga.
Talia's middle name was Joy—an apt choice for a girl who seemed to bring so much joy to those who crossed her path. I also love the middle names Hope, Jade, Charlotte and Violet paired with Talia.
What do you think of the name Talia? Is it a baby name you'd consider for your daughter?
